Sometimes I’m glad we have a short memory. Packing up a baby, 6 year old and gear for a race we were both in seemed reasonable at the time. On Friday we packed up the truck, borrowed our friend’s pop up camper and headed for the 12 hours of Mesa Verde race. I was on a 3 person female team (Ridgway Velo Moms) and Randy was on a male duo team. When we arrived, our friends Rachel and Stephen (Phil’s World founder and race announcer) saved us a campsite. Sea Otter is a great event for the entire family. You can choose a MTB race, road race, gran fondo, and or recreational rides. For kids they have an egg hunt, races, kid zone and carnival. I have been several times and it never disappoints. Also new for 2011 will be a ladies day celebrating the women of cycling. Visit one of many displays with women-specific products, participate in a women-only ride, or just chill and enjoy the company of other women.
