Complete Guide to Attending Red Bull Rampage 2024

In 2022 we decided to get Red Bull Rampage tickets. We were successful in getting our tickets but leading up to Rampage we couldn’t find ANYTHING useful online about attending in person. We wrote this post to help you get tickets to Red Bull Rampage 2024 and answer the following questions:

  • How do we get back to the venue?
  • Where do we camp?
  • How far in is it? Can we take bikes and lock them up? Is there food?

This guide gives you those answers and more. Read on if you plan to attend Rampage for the first time.

Rampage Behind the Scenes

What you see at finals starts with years of practice and then weeks working at the venue.

Rampage is by invitation and riders who finish in the previous year’s top 10 qualify automatically. The rest of the field is chosen by judges to complete the final list of riders.

The on-site work starts about 10 days before finals. First riders scout lines, do trailwork, and build natural features with a two-person crew they get to pick. They can’t use power tools, or bring in materials such as wood or metal. Red Bull does allow sandbags. Four days before finals they get to start riding their lines. At this point many riders share parts of their lines with other riders to collaborate.

On finals day, each rider gets two runs that are each judged by a panel of mostly former riders. Highest single score wins. For a tie, they take the combined score of both runs. If the riders has a really good first run they might opt to call it and not go up for a second run.

Brandon Semenuk has won four times taking the lead. Kurt Sorge is next with three wins, and Kyle Strait and Brett Rheedar have won two Rampages.

Getting Red Bull Rampage Tickets

The dates for 2024 are October 10th and 12th. Thursday will be for the women (yay!) and Saturday for the men. Tickets go on sale August 30th at 10am MT. They will be posted for sale on the Red Bull Rampage website with a link to EventBright. You need be on your computer early so follow @RedBullBike to stay informed.

There are two types of General Admission tickets available: the Hike/Bike Pass and the Shuttle Pass. The Hike/Bike Pass allows you to access the event and requires biking or hiking into the venue. No shuttle service will be provided for this ticket. The Shuttle Pass allows access to the event via shuttle service from the Registration Tent to the entry of the event venue.

Remember that your tickets are nonrefundable and they can’t be transferred to anyone else.

Red Bull Rampage Camping and Lodging

Utah has an abundance of BLM land allowing you to dispersed camp for free. Our go to spot when in this area is Sheep Bridge Rd. In recent years the BLM has come in and set some developed sites with fire rings and now does not allow camping just anywhere out there. It is however still free to camp there and when we were there for Rampage people were still camping wherever they wanted out there. Bonus for this area is you are camping right next to the JEM trail system. Fantastic XC riding right from your rig.

Looking to Do some Rampage style jumps yourself while you’re there? Check out the North Creek Dispersed camping area. This is an older Rampage venue and still used by many riders.

There is an abundance of pay campgrounds in this area but I highly recommend you book in advance.

Here’s a few options close to the venue:

Zion White Bison Glamping & RV Resort: This is a new resort and RV park in a perfect location for Rampage and riding in Hurricane and Virgin.

La Quinta La Verkin: This is a nice hotel at the base of the hill up to Virgin. Quick access to venue and trails.

For other lodging check out our Complete Guide to Mountain Biking in Hurricane.

What to Bring to Rampage

Be prepared for the weather as there’s very little shade or cover there. Bring sunscreen and a good hat. Likewise, rain gear if the forecast is bad. Also pack a lunch and bring chairs if you plan to stay in one place. We even saw people bring in tents and shade canopies.

Red Bull Rampage Ticket Pickup

A few days before the event you’ll get an email with pickup instructions. To pick up your wristbands you’ll need: your printed ticket, or a screenshot of your ticket sent by Eventbrite digitally, and a valid government-issued photo ID. In 2023 it was at the Corner of Hwy 9 and Kolob Terrace Road for 2023. You’ll be required to complete a spectator waiver prior to receiving your wristband and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. Wristbands are available for pick-up the Thursday and Friday before Rampage. A word of caution with the wristbands: they can’t be backed off so make them loose, otherwise you’ll have to cut them off after the event.

Red Bull Rampage Schedule

Pick up is organized with people telling you where to park as soon as you drive in. After you park, enter through a barrier to the packet pick up area. Once done with that they have a whole area set up with Rampage merchandise. If you want any merchandise buy it immediately after you get your wristband as they sold out of most items and closed down early the day of the event.

Tip: If you don’t have tickets to the event you can’t get in to buy the merchandise.

Parking and Hike/Bike In

The day of Rampage you’ll return to the same area as the packet pick up. They’ll have a huge field available for parking. We brought our bikes but plenty of people also opted to hike in the approx. 2.5 miles. The path is along a dirt two track and well marked with Rampage signs the whole way. Once in the venue there’s a well organized bike valet run by locals. They operate on donations only for local charities so bring some cash as these people are taking care of your bikes and standing around all day. I highly recommend you use this because we did hear of one bike that was stolen out there and it is not possible to keep your bike with you while at the event.

The ride to Rampage

Tip: While the shuttle seems tempting we noticed LONG lines especially after the event. If you can ride in, that’s the best option, as it’s an experience in itself.

Where to Spectate/Venue Layout

Once in the event site there are three main areas, The finish coral, and two viewing areas about 1/3rd of the way up the hillside (one on each side). “VIP” pass holders can get up higher and have more access but with general admission these are your spots and they are pretty on top of things, keeping people where they belong. Many people did bring in small chairs, coolers, etc… but if you want to plant a chair in one of the viewing areas you need to head in super early to get a spot. The viewing areas are very good, we could easily see most of the riders runs and there was a large jump right by us that a few riders hit.

Tip: If you plan to try and sneak into areas they have roped off I hate to tell you that it will not last long. We found a great spot hidden behind a rock that was behind some tape. Unfortunately other people followed us and security caught on and kicked us out.

The access to the riders to talk to them, give high fives, etc is great. They were all very friendly and happy to stop for a quick picture or autograph.

Rampage Schedule

Gates open at 8:00am local time and the first rider drops in around 10:30am. Plan to be there by 8:30am so that you’re at the venue by 10am and get a good parking spot.

Here are some other key times.

  • Wristband pick-up open: 7:00am – 12:00pm
  • Event shuttle service: approximately 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Gates Open: 8:00am
  • Finals Run 1 start: 10:30am
  • Awards are scheduled for approximately 3:30pm

Rampage Facilities and Food

We expected more options for food. The event could definitely support a few good food trucks with hot food options. There was a small food tent with bakery items and sandwiches but we recommend bringing your own food/snacks and drinks. Of course, they are also handing out free Red Bulls so keep an eye out for those!

Final Thoughts

Red Bull Rampage is an amazing event to attend. It’s well organized and super fun to see in person. We were actually surprised how well organized it was considering we could not find ANYTHING about what to expect when attending this live. That’s why we wrote this. Hope it helps and good luck getting your tickets!

  1. What are the dates for the 2023 Rampage?

    1. They haven’t announced them yet but I’ll update this post when they do. It’s usually mid-October.

  2. My kids really live watching the event on TV.
Ages are 11, 9, and 6. How family friendly would you say the event is?

    1. It’s very family friendly if they don’t mind being in the sun all day. Those ages seem perfect. They will be able to stand at the bottom of the course and get high-fives from the riders as they finish their run. You can get really close without VIP status. If you are higher up on the hill it can be a little harder for them to see if you don’t get there early and have to stand behind someone. Still it’s really not that crowded. I’d try to get tickets and check it out at least once.

  3. Can you ride a motorcycle in?

  4. How much do you think the average ticket price was? Just trying to get an idea. Thanks!!

    1. It was $150 last year.

  7. Quick tip:

Make sure you bring cash! This is a cash only event. Looking forward to this year as I’ll be more prepared! 🤙🏼

    1. Yes good point. You can use credit cards to buy SWAG at the ticket pickup but at the event you’ll need cash to tip the bike valet and to buy food.
